Pre-installation Considerations

The success of the final installation of your new Arden Heritage® solid hardwood floor is wholly dependent on the quality of the sub-floor onto which it is laid. Therefore correct site preparation is essential.

All sub-floors should be firm, level, clean and dry to ensure installation is completed to the highest possible standard. Solid hardwood is a natural product and adapts its internal moisture content to the relative humidity of the environment in which is installed. Therefore particular attention must be given to the moisture content within the sub-floor. This should be tested by your local installation specialist.

Where sub-floor moisture levels are in excess of our stated recommendations, then a damp proof membrane must be incorporated before installing your new Arden Heritage® solid hardwood floor.

Damp Proof Membrane

To work in conjunction with the Acoustic Silent Layer System and the Fully Bonded System we recommend the application of SikaFloor® 156 damp proof membrane to produce a moisture and vapour impermeable layer. This also provides an excellent base for optimum adhesive performance. SikaFloor® 156 is a two part, two coat system.

For sub-floors with extreme moisture levels there are solutions available. Please contact your local Arden Heritage® dealership.
